Description
“Nijinokirameki” is a new rice variety developed by the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO) in 2018. It was named Nijinokirameki due to its rainbow-like variety of properties and the glossy appearance of the rice when cooked. This rice is as delicious as Koshihikari rice, with each grain being large and filling. As the name suggests, it is also characterized by its beautiful, glossy finish. It has a chewy texture and strong stickiness, and the rice possesses a natural sweetness, making it stand up well to strongly-flavored side dishes. We also recommend making rice balls to fully enjoy the flavor of the rice itself. Over 30,000 tons of this rice variety are used in Japan for both retail and commercial purposes.
