Description

Yutaka Panko Japanese Style Breadcrumbs 300g are light, coarse Japanese breadcrumbs made for creating a crisp, crunchy coating on dishes such as chicken katsu, tonkatsu, fried prawns, fish and vegetables.

Texture is an important part of Japanese fried food, and panko is the breadcrumb traditionally associated with dishes such as chicken katsu. Yutaka Panko is made by baking soft white bread, removing the crusts and coarsely grinding the bread into large flakes of around 6mm.

The large, airy crumb structure helps create a lighter, more textured coating than many fine regular breadcrumbs. Because the flakes are designed to absorb less grease during frying, they help produce a crisp finish that stays crunchy for longer.

These Japanese-style panko breadcrumbs are ideal for deep-frying, but they are also versatile enough for everyday cooking. Use them as a crunchy topping for salads, gratins and pasta dishes, or as a binder for hamburger patties and meatballs.

Why Choose Yutaka Panko?

  • Large, coarse flakes – around 6mm for a visibly textured coating.
  • Light and airy crumb – designed to create a crisp Japanese-style finish.
  • Perfect for katsu – ideal for chicken katsu, tonkatsu and other breaded dishes.
  • Versatile – also suitable for fish, prawns, vegetables, toppings and binders.

How to Use Panko Breadcrumbs

For a classic breaded coating:

  1. Lightly coat the meat, fish or vegetables with flour.
  2. Dip into beaten egg.
  3. Press into Yutaka Panko Breadcrumbs until evenly coated.
  4. Deep-fry until golden and thoroughly cooked.

For a lighter alternative, panko can also be used in oven-baked or air-fried dishes. Cooking time and temperature will depend on the ingredient and recipe.
